Cheri Ibes is a multimedia artist with a practice spanning sculpture, installation, collage, and painting. She currently lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her background is both in art and political science. She has also studied occupational therapy. She holds a BA degree in political science from UC Davis and earned an MS degree in occupational therapy from San Jose State University. After graduating, she became interested in contemporary art and returned to UC Davis, taking courses through the University Extension Program, studying with such influential artists as Manuel Neri, Robert Arneson, Lucy Puls, June Leaf, and Conrad Atkinson. Her interest in contemporary art began with those experiences and has continued to develop through her innovative processes and use of unconventional materials to provide conceptual perspectives on a wide spectrum of subject matter.
